YOUTH DEATH IN PRINCE ALBERT

Released on September 19, 2013

On September 18, 2013, Prince Albert Youth Residence staff recognized that a youth, being held on remand, was in medical distress.  The youth was immediately taken to hospital and passed away at 1:15 p.m on September 19, 2013.

As a standard practice, the police, the Coroner’s office and the Saskatchewan Advocate for Children and Youth have been notified.  The Ministry of Justice will conduct its own internal investigation.
