The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is providing more than $2 million to more than 900 organizations across the province as part of SLGA’s charitable gaming grant program.
“Whether it’s a service club working to raise funds for a new facility, a parent coaching a children’s hockey team or a volunteer fire department serving during a crisis, our communities are stronger because of volunteers,” Minister responsible for SLGA Donna Harpauer said. “Our government is pleased to support the efforts of charities across the province by providing financial support through these grants.”
Among the grants provided by SLGA this quarter: Humboldt and surrounding area received $101,156; Yorkton and surrounding area: $84,291; Meadow Lake and surrounding area: $74,076; Moose Jaw and surrounding area: $67,016 and Swift Current and surrounding area: $59,924.
These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
