PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO SASKATCHEWAN STUDENTS

Released on October 24, 2013

Three Saskatchewan students are among the scholars that have been awarded the 2013 United World Colleges (UWC) Scholarship.

Elaheh Bandari and Christian Kordan, both of Saskatoon, and Levi Kirkby of Prince Albert, were selected from a pool of global candidates and began attending UWC Colleges in Canada, the UK and the Netherlands in August 2013.  The scholarships are awarded on the basis of national competitions and allow students to pursue a two-year International Baccalaureate academic program.

“Saskatchewan schools and teachers produce global citizens that our entire country can be proud of,” Education Minister Don Morgan said.  “We congratulate these students on their success, and applaud their dedication to academic excellence and community outreach.  They are first-rate representatives of our province and we wish them the best on their educational journeys.”

Bandari is attending Pearson College UWC in Victoria, B.C, Kordan is in the UK attending UWC Atlantic College, and Kirkby is studying at UWC Maastricht in the Netherlands.
