GOVERNMENT PROCLAIMS SCHOOL BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY

Released on October 21, 2013

As part of the kick off to Saskatchewan’s 2013 Education Week, the Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed Monday, October 21 as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, to recognize the incredible responsibility school bus drivers have to ensure the safety of Saskatchewan students.

“The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed this day to recognize and thank school bus drivers for their commitment to the safety of students as they transport them to and from school each and every day,” Education Minister Don Morgan said.  “Their dedication does not go unnoticed and we know that in both rural and urban communities alike, their work is appreciated by students, and their parents, all year long.”

The Student Transportation Association of Saskatchewan (STAS) represents all individuals who transport students to school on behalf of school divisions across the province.

“School bus drivers are dedicated to ensuring that students arrive to school safely and on time,” STAS Director Larry Senga said.  “On behalf of the STAS, I would like to thank you for your contributions and congratulate you on a job well done.”

School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is proclaimed each year, along with Education Week, to highlight the achievements of Saskatchewan students and commend the work of all those in the education sector who support them in their success.
