CELEBRATING EDUCATION WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on October 21, 2013

The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed October 20 to 26 as Education Week.  This year’s theme, Supporting and Celebrating Success, highlights the exceptional, and important, work that teachers, parents, caregivers, leaders and support staff do to support the success of Saskatchewan students.

“We know that there is more diversity in the classroom than ever before, and that means success can look different for each student,” Education Minister Don Morgan said.  “By using a Student First approach, we can individualize and personalize the experience for each individual student by name, by strength and by need.  Then by celebrating their achievements, we can help to inspire confidence and encourage lifelong learning and success.”

Each year, Education Week is proclaimed to highlight the achievements of Saskatchewan students and commend the dedication of teachers and staff.  This week is celebrated through various events and public activities in schools throughout the province.

The theme Supporting and Celebrating Success encourages those in the sector to share best practices and examples of great work not only within their schools and communities, but across the province.

“We know that there are pockets of excellence and lots of great work happening around the province and we need to shine a spotlight on this work,” Morgan said.  “Today we are proud to share a few of these examples, and celebrate these successes as a sector.”
