SASKGAMING PROPERTIES EARN RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING CHECK ACCREDITATION

Released on November 14, 2013

SaskGaming’s two properties, Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw, are the first gambling facilities in Saskatchewan to earn Responsible Gambling (RG) check accreditation – the most rigorous RG accreditation program in the world.

“The RG Check accreditation affirms SaskGaming’s commitment to providing gaming entertainment in a socially responsible manner,” SaskGaming President and CEO Twyla Meredith said.  “Over the years we have worked hard to develop our responsible gambling policies and program.  To receive this accreditation is recognition of the hard work invested so far and encourages us to continue that very important work.”

RG Check recognizes gaming venues that have achieved high standards in responsible gambling programs by providing them with an independent, objective check on internal responsible gambling policies and procedures.

The RG Check accreditation program is administered by the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) and is based on a RG Index comprised of a set of RGC standards.  The standards include corporate policies, self-exclusion, advertising and promotion, informed decision making, assisting patrons, access to money, venue and game features and employee training.

“The Responsible Gambling Council’s standards are the most comprehensive and rigorous anywhere,” RGC CEO Jon Kelly said.  “The council researched gambling safeguards around the world to help develop and refine these standards and to ensure they are the most stringent available today.”

To achieve RG Check accreditation, Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw were subject to documentation review, staff surveys, patron surveys, mock self-exclusions exercises, on-site interviews and physical reviews of each casino’s gaming floor and back-of-house areas.
