GOVERNMENT AND SGEU RATIFY FOUR-YEAR AGREEMENT

Released on May 31, 2013

The tentative agreement between the Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU) has been ratified by both parties.

“I am pleased that we now have a collective agreement in place,” Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission Nancy Heppner said.  “The co-operation of both parties is appreciated and we look forward to continuing to work together with the union and its members to serve the people of Saskatchewan.”

The agreement, which covers approximately 10,000 public service employees across executive government, extends four years, from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2016.  The total monetary package outlined in the agreement provides for seven per cent over four years, and allows government the ability to remain competitive in the labour market.

“The Government of Saskatchewan relies on the high calibre and professional support of our SGEU members,” Heppner said.  “They work hard to meet the needs of the people of the province and take pride in the services they provide.”
