OMBUDSMAN WEEK DECLARED IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on May 8, 2013

In honour of Ombudsman Saskatchewan’s 40th anniversary, the provincial government has declared May 5-11 as Ombudsman Week.

“We recognize the work of Ombudsman Saskatchewan in ensuring all levels of the provincial government are held accountable to the people of this province,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant said.  “This week is an opportunity to promote awareness of their services and give thanks to present and former staff for their contributions to Saskatchewan.”

Since 1973, Ombudsman Saskatchewan has been promoting and protecting fairness in the design and delivery of government services.  Ombudsman Saskatchewan is independent and is trusted to mediate important concerns between the public and government.

"We're glad to have been able to provide an independent perspective that looks at what was decided, how it was decided, and how people were treated,” Saskatchewan Ombudsman Kevin Fenwick said.
