SASKGAMING LAUNCHES NEW RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING PROGRAM

Released on May 6, 2013

SaskGaming is changing its approach to responsible gambling at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw with the adoption of GameSense, an internationally-recognized responsible gambling program proven to raise awareness about gambling tools and supports.

GameSense was developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and is now being adopted by SaskGaming for use at Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw.  It combines responsible play education with information on the risks associated with gambling, and it communicates this in a friendly and engaging manner.

“We want our guests to make informed gambling decisions and we want them to know that if they are experiencing difficulty with gambling, they can come to us and we will show them where to find help,” SaskGaming President and CEO Twyla Meredith said.  “GameSense tools will provide this information in an innovative way, and our trained GameSense Advisors are also available to offer personal and confidential support and resources.”

GameSense is being introduced in phases.  New GameSense brochures and interactive kiosks are already available on the gaming floor at both casinos.  The second phase will be completed later this year with the development of GameSense Info Centres at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw and the launch of a new GameSense website that will provide access to help and resources 24 hours a day.

The introduction of GameSense coincides with Responsible Gambling Awareness Week in Saskatchewan.  From May 6-11, public events are held at Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw to raise public awareness of the responsible gambling tools and supports available.
