The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed May 5-11 North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week. The theme this year is Safety and Health: A Commitment for Life. Are You as Safe as You Think?
NAOSH Week is celebrated throughout North America. It invites employers, employees and the general public to renew their commitment to protecting health and safety in the workplace and at home.
“We need to ensure the health and safety of Saskatchewan people,” Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. “Safety is everyone’s responsibility and working together we can improve safety outcomes in the province and ensure that everyone arrives home healthy and safe at the end of the day.”
To celebrate NAOSH Week, luncheon events are being held in Regina on Monday, May 6, at Conexus Arts Centre and on Tuesday, May 7, at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. Keynote speaker Michael Lovett will talk about the workplace injury he sustained and reinforce the importance of workplace safety for young workers.
Saskatchewan NAOSH Week activities are promoted and co-ordinated by the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, the Workers’ Compensation Board, the Government of Canada, Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, Saskatchewan Safety Associations and the Saskatchewan Safety Council.
