PROVINCE CELEBRATES STOCK GROWER WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN

Released on June 7, 2013

The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to proclaim June 9-15, Stock Grower Week in Saskatchewan to recognize the 100th anniversary of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association.

“Over the past century, the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association has been a strong industry advocate for our cattle producers” Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart said.  “The hard work and dedication they have shown the beef industry is commendable,.  I would like to congratulate the Saskatchewan Stock Growers on reaching this milestone and thank them for their contributions to our beef industry.”

“The 100th anniversary is an impressive milestone,” Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association President Harold Martens said.  “It’s an affirmation of the fact that we’ve remained true to our principles over a century of service, and we look forward to celebrating that at the 100th annual convention.  We’re expecting a strong turnout for this once-in-a-lifetime event.”

Saskatchewan’s farmers and ranchers play a significant role in managing and safeguarding the province’s pasture and forage lands.  Producers depend on this valuable resource to sustain their livelihoods, and the Government of Saskatchewan is proud to celebrate their contribution to the protection of the land for future generations.

Stock Grower Week will be celebrated with a ranch rodeo, an industry tradeshow and the 100th annual general meeting.  More information on Stock Grower week activities can be found at www.skstockgrowers.com/100th/.
