For those who have wanted to try their hand at reeling in a fish, July 6 and 7 offers the chance during the annual free fishing weekend.
“Saskatchewan offers some of the best fishing experiences in the world,” Environment Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said. “The annual free fishing weekend encourages more people to experience the simple joy of spending time with friends and family on Saskatchewan’s many bodies of water, reeling in that catch of the day.”
“Whether you are a novice or an experienced angler, fishing is a great way to enjoy Saskatchewan’s beautiful outdoors,” Cheveldayoff said.
Regular angling limits and all other sport fishing laws remain in effect.
All anglers, including youth under the age of 16 and seniors 65 years of age and older who will be angling on Lac La Ronge, must have a Lac La Ronge Endorsement. These may be obtained for free through private issuers, Ministry of Environment and select provincial park offices.
Free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks and anyone planning to take fish out of the province must purchase a licence.
If you require a license, you will need to sign in to the new online Hunting, Trapping and Angling Licence (HAL) system. All anglers need to create a HAL user account and receive a HAL ID number in order to purchase licences.
