The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation continues to work with individuals, communities and organizations across the province to preserve the province's architectural heritage and maintain its cultural resources.
"Today the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation announced the results of its second and final grant adjudication for the 2012 - 13 fiscal year. A total of 32 proposals were reviewed and $164,800 was allocated to 22 initiatives. Funding was provided for projects in the following categories: 18 conservation, 3 education/promotion, and one special project. Individual grants ranged from $3,000 for Metis History in Southwest Saskatchewan to $15,000 for exterior rehabilitation of the Arcola Land Titles Building."
"Projects supported through the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation's grant programs develop pride in our province and promote tourism opportunities through the sensitive rehabilitation of landmark structures," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Kevin Doherty said. "By working together, individuals, organizations and communities across the province preserve our shared heritage, thereby building a stronger Saskatchewan."
"The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation's funding assistance complements the hard work and economic resources of heritage property owners and others across the province who seek to conserve, research, develop and promote our rich and diverse heritage legacy," Heritage Foundation Chair Wesley Moore said. "Historic places are tangible links to the past, reflecting events that shaped our communities and commemorate the vision and contribution of those who came before us."
The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation is a government agency that works closely with the Heritage Conservation Branch of the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport. In addition to its funding activities, the foundation is mandated to acquire, manage and develop real and moveable property in the name of the Crown, and accept the donation of cash monies, property and other bequests.
