More than 700 groups and organizations across the province will receive more than $1.2 million in charitable gaming grants from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).
“These groups and organizations work hard to better their communities through their volunteer efforts,” Minister responsible for SLGA Donna Harpauer said. “Our government is pleased to assist the efforts of these volunteers by providing funding through the charitable gaming grant program.”
Among the grants provided by SLGA this quarter: Yorkton and surrounding area received $82,439; North Battleford and surrounding area: $55,842; Lloydminster and surrounding area: $52,013; Estevan and surrounding area: $27,963 and Meadow Lake and surrounding area: $25,834.
The quarterly grants are based on 25 per cent of net proceeds raised by groups and organizations through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming financial reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
