Saskatchewan merchandise exports continued to track at record levels in October 2013 according to a report released by Statistics Canada today.  Merchandise exports totalled $27.2 billion between January and October of 2013.

“We are on track to have another record year for exports,” Minister responsible for Trade Tim McMillan said.  “Our diverse economy continues to grow as the first 10 months of 2013 are the best ever.”

Energy exports totalled $10.25 billion in the first 10 months of 2013, up 3.4 per cent from the same period last year, and a record for this period.  Other major gains were in consumer products, up 66.7 per cent and forestry products, up 14.0 per cent.

“The economy in Saskatchewan continues to be strong,” McMillan said.  “With exports hitting record levels so far in 2013, it is further proof that our economy continues to grow, attract more people and investment.”
