STC TRAVELS SASKATCHEWAN FOR HOMETOWN TOUR

Released on September 17, 2012

The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) is hitting the road to visit 10 Saskatchewan communities this September.

In partnership with CTV television, STC will be transporting a newscast across the province as part of the Hometown Tour. The 6 p.m. news is broadcast live on site from the communities chosen to be part of the tour.

The first leg of the tour is from September 17-21 and visits, in order: Vanscoy, Kerrobert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, and Hanley. The second portion of the tour starts September 24 in Swift Current. From there, the tour heads to Whitewood, Foam Lake, Nokomis, and wraps up on September 28 in Regina Beach.

"The Hometown Tour is a celebration of rural Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for STC Don McMorris said. "STC is proud to be involved in what will be an exciting day for the chosen communities and the surrounding areas."

In addition to providing transportation to the newscast, STC staff will be in the communities providing information about STC services and promoting bus travel.

"We serve 287 communities with our network and every rural agent is vital to our success," STC President and CEO Shawn Grice said. "We know this opportunity means a lot to the chosen towns. It gives them a chance to show the rest of Saskatchewan what makes them special and we want to be a part of it."

The Hometown Tour began in 2009 and runs in both May and September each year.
