With winter weather starting to move into Saskatchewan, the major highway construction season is coming to a close, making this the last weekly highway construction update for 2012.
"We've had a productive construction season this summer," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "We were blessed with a particularly warm summer, allowing our construction crews to complete many projects. With winter coming, we will be focusing on bridge and culvert work that can continue into the winter season."
One of those projects is the $1.1 million bridge replacement near Maidstone in the eastbound lanes of Highway 16. The 15 metre-long precast concrete bridge over Birling Creek is scheduled to open to traffic in November with some paving work to be completed during the next construction season.
