NEW TENDER RELEASE INCLUDES 40 PROJECTS WORTH $172.8 MILLION

Released on November 1, 2012

This year's Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure fall tender release features 40 new projects, including 19 construction contracts, eight bridge and culvert projects and 13 crushing and stockpiling contracts worth an estimated $172.8 million.

"This year's fall tender release is impressive, and by moving forward with the upgrading of Highway 22, we hope to have our next construction season start off on the best possible foot," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "By tendering and planning early, we will have the contractors and materials we need ready in order to secure the Saskatchewan Advantage for our growing province."

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure released the first phase of its highway construction tenders for the 2013 construction season today, including the first tender to rebuild Highway 22 from the Junction of Highway 6 at Southey to 15.5 km west at Earl Grey.

Highlights include:

  • Highway 1 - paving the West Regina Bypass to Dewdney Avenue;
  • Highway 10 - grading and paving new passing lanes between Balgonie and Fort Qu'Appelle;
  • Highway 22 - grading and paving from the Junction of Highway 6 at Southey to Earl Grey;
  • Highway 51 - paving from Major to the Junction of Highway 317;
  • Highway 56 - bridge replacement over the Qu'Appelle River;
  • Highway 58 - grading and paving from the Junction of Highway 13 at Lafleche to the Junction of Highway 43 at Gravelbourg; and
  • Highway 123 - grading sections southwest of Cumberland House.

The fall tender release represents a portion of the projects that will be tendered for construction in 2013. The remainder of the projects are usually tendered throughout the winter and in the spring following the provincial budget.
