SASKATCHEWAN ADVANTAGE SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE TO LAKELAND COLLEGE STUDENTS

Released on May 24, 2012

Recently, Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris officially announced the new Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship.

The scholarship will provide new Grade 12 graduates from Saskatchewan who enroll at a Saskatchewan post-secondary institution, including both Lakeland College campuses, with up to $500 per year to a lifetime maximum of $2,000 over 10 years.

"Our government understands the importance of post-secondary education and we are committed to making it accessible and affordable for more students," Norris said. "The new Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship provides incentive for our high school graduates to pursue an education at one of our post-secondary institutions, including Lakeland College."

"I am excited to see more opportunities for Saskatchewan post-secondary students," Crown Investments Corporation Minister and Lloydminster MLA Tim McMillan said. "The new Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship will help more Lloydminster Grade 12 graduates pursue their post-secondary studies closer to home."

The Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship will reduce tuition for students entering post-secondary programs starting after April 1, 2012, and applies to a broad array of programs that are recognized for Canada-Saskatchewan Student Loans.

Updated information on the scholarship is posted on the ministry's website at www.aeei.gov.sk.ca/scholarship-sas.
