ONLINE PORTAL FOR TEMPORARY WATER RIGHTS LICENCE APPROVAL

Released on March 29, 2012

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority has launched a new Online Products Portal to our clients and to Saskatchewan people. Our first application for the portal allows you to apply, receive approval and pay for a temporary water rights licence online.

"We know our new Online Products Portal will reduce costs for businesses and also help give faster decisions," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority Dustin Duncan said. "This online process will also improve water management by improving the collection of data on water use."

A Temporary Water Rights Licence grants permission to use a specific volume of water for short-term use. The new, Online Products Portal provides an automatic assessment that considers water demand and the water source and either issues an approval immediately online, or refers the application to the appropriate regional office if a more detailed review is necessary.

This initiative is part of the Watershed Authority's Public Service Renewal process, improving our service to clients, while simplifying processes and lowering costs for business and government.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority leads management of the province's water resources to ensure safe drinking water sources and economic, environmental and social benefits for Saskatchewan people.
