Vaughn Solomon Schofield was officially installed as the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan today.
In a ceremony held in the Legislative Chamber, Solomon Schofield took her oath of office before Chief Justice John Klebuc and then was proclaimed Lieutenant Governor by Premier Brad Wall.
"On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan and the people of this province, it is my pleasure to welcome her to this esteemed role and offer my most heartfelt congratulations," Wall said.
After the ceremony Solomon Schofield inspected a Guard of Honour from Joint Task Force West, followed by a 15-gun salute and a fly-past by 15 Wing Moose Jaw. A tea hosted by the Speaker of the Legislature followed the outdoor activities.
Under the constitution, a lieutenant governor is appointed by the federal government for a minimum of five years to act as The Queen's representative in the province, but there is no fixed term of office.
