Minister Responsible for Innovation Rob Norris is in Montreal, QC today to attend a Federal/Provincial/Territorial meeting for Ministers of Economic Development regarding the federal Digital Economy Strategy.
In May 2010, then federal Industry Minister Tony Clement began consultations on a federal Digital Economy Strategy. Today's meeting will continue the discussions on four major areas of focus - broadband communications infrastructure, adoption of digital technologies, Information and Communication Technologies skills development and application of new media.
"This national discussion on our digital economy reinforces that this sector is contributing to Saskatchewan's growth, it's building bridges between communities and it offers cutting edge career opportunities for Saskatchewan students," Norris said.
