Released on March 14, 2012
Today Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard proclaimed March 9-25 as Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie 2012 in Saskatchewan. During this period Saskatchewan people will have the opportunity to participate in events that celebrate Canada's francophone culture and heritage.
"It is my pleasure to make this proclamation and demonstrate, on behalf of the people of Saskatchewan, that we fully recognize the contributions of Saskatchewan's francophone community," Elhard said. "Rendez-vous has taken on a special meaning this year, as 2012 has been designated the Year of the Fransaskois to celebrate the French culture, distinctive to our province."
All Saskatchewan residents are invited to celebrate with the Fransaskois and to attend the numerous activities taking place across the province.
Festivities are held annually in March throughout Canada to promote French language and Francophone culture and to coincide with the International Day of La Francophonie on March 20.
