RECONSTRUCTION OF GRID ROAD 777 NEAR LAKE LENORE COMPLETED

Released on September 16, 2011

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is pleased to announce that reconstruction of Grid Road 777 near Lake Lenore is now complete.

Grid 777, in the Rural Municipality of Three Lakes, was flooded in the spring of 2010 due to the federal order to prevent flow from Houghton Lake to Lenore Lake. To comply with the federal order, Saskatchewan Watershed Authority had to block flow from Houghton Lake, causing a large increase in lake level and flooding a section of Grid 777.

"As this is a vital transportation route for the community, I am pleased that the road is now open," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority Dustin Duncan said. "It is especially timely with harvest now in progress and school busses again travelling."

This completes the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority obligation to rebuild the road.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority leads management of the province's water resources to ensure safe drinking water sources and economic, environmental and social benefits for Saskatchewan people.
