Engineers and geoscientists seeking to do business with the Government of Saskatchewan now have a standardized and more efficient Professional Service Agreement (PSA) that is the result of collaboration between the Consulting Engineers of Saskatchewan (CES) and Government of Saskatchewan officials.
"Through Enterprise Saskatchewan, the government is working on reforming and streamlining regulations, to make it easier to do business and sharpen Saskatchewan's competitive edge," Enterprise Saskatchewan CEO Chris Dekker said. "This agreement once again shows the benefits of collaboration between the government and stakeholders in finalizing a contract document that meets the needs of both parties."
The Government of Saskatchewan and the CES formed the Consultant Selection Working Group to work toward development and implementation of more consistent engineering/geosciences consultant selection policies across all ministries, agencies and crown corporations. This working group provids a forum for ongoing dialogue between the two parties with the goal of continuous improvement of the systems and processes which are in place.
"The perseverance of those involved in this initiative is a testament to the importance of the development of common contract language," CES Chair of Consultant Selection Working Group Dwayne Gelowitz said. "The Professional Services Agreement embraces the principles of efficiency and sound business practice. It evolved as a direct result of consensus-building that occurred because of the strong working relationship we have with our government partners. All parties' needs were considered, which will ultimately benefit all people in Saskatchewan."
The PSA document incorporates standardized contract language that will create uniformity when the government engages the services of engineering and geoscience professionals. It is aimed at providing cost savings to clients and consultants, creating efficiencies within government and the consulting industry, and contributing to a fair and effective consultant selection policy.
As CES celebrates its 35th anniversary, this is another example of how this non-profit continues to be the voice of the business interests of consulting engineers and geoscientists. Through establishing and maintaining positive client relationships, CES will continue to provide input into this and other initiatives with the goal of continuous improvement to business systems and processes.
