SASKATCHEWAN MAKES DONATION TO LOCAL CHARITY ON BEHALF OF GOVERNOR GENERAL

Released on September 12, 2011

Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer announced today that the Government of Saskatchewan will make a donation of $1,000 to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina in recognition of Governor General David Johnston's visit to Saskatchewan.

"In honour of His Excellency David Johnston and his commitment to building a better Canada through discourse, education and community participation, it is my pleasure to make this donation on behalf of the people of Saskatchewan," Harpauer said. "I know the staff at Souls Harbour Rescue Mission will use this gift to directly help those within our community who are in need."

Souls Harbour Rescue Mission was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization with the goal of helping the less fortunate by offering emergency help such as food, clothing and shelter as well as numerous recovery programs.

Souls Harbour Rescue Mission is very pleased to be the recipient of such a generous gift by our provincial government in honour of the visit of the Governor General of Canada.

"We appreciate this recognition of our organization as we seek to serve the residents of Saskatchewan," Souls Harbour Mission Development Director Rebecca Cochrane said. "We believe in the value of every Canadian citizen and work to demonstrate that as we provide food, clothing, shelter and life changing services to individuals and families in our community that are in need. Thank you for the honour of this gift and your support of our work in our community."
