Minister responsible for The Office of the Provincial Capital Commission Bill Hutchinson was joined by students from Luther High School to take part in the launch of new Quick Read codes in the Amédée Forget Museum at Government House in Regina today.
"We are excited to introduce this new way to engage visitors at Government House," Hutchinson said. "It allows guests to interact directly with many of the displays and learn the stories of the unique objects and artifacts within the museum."
Quick Read or "QR codes" are a type of barcode that can be read by most types of personal smartphones and tablet computers. When a QR code is scanned by a device, the user is directed to a specific Url that contains additional information.
"Government House continues to act as a bridge between our province's past and future, serving as a piece of living history," Hutchinson said. "These codes will help to educate more visitors about our province's rich history and heritage."
The Quick Read code program is part of Government House's revitalization plan to renew their services to offer more tour options and give visitors new and exciting ways to explore and enjoy the National Historic Site and Provincial Heritage Property.
