ISC LAUNCHES BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS SASKATCHEWAN

Released on May 5, 2011

Business owners in Saskatchewan have a convenient new way to register a business online. Information Services Corporation (ISC) has launched Business Registrations Saskatchewan, providing one easy to use online process to complete the steps required to register a business with the Corporate Registry, as an employer with Workers' Compensation Board and for Provincial Sales Tax (PST) with the Ministry of Finance.

"Business Registrations Saskatchewan makes it easier than ever before to register a business in Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for ISC Tim McMillan said. "It's also the first phase in the overall vision to provide business owners with a single online point of access to most government services for business. The goal is to streamline processes across government - ultimately reducing costs for businesses and government."

In this first phase, Business Registrations Saskatchewan reduces the effort and paperwork currently required to register a business. The website replaces the previous process that required a business owner to enter the same information three times, with three different government agencies.

"ISC is implementing a phased approach to add new services beyond the act of registration," ISC President and CEO Jeff Stusek said. "We have a five to seven year view to fulfilling our goal of providing expanded services relevant to all stages of a business life cycle, including things like permits, licences and other government requirements, through one online access point."

ISC has worked closely with the business community in development of Business Registrations Saskatchewan through a strategic advisory committee, which includes members of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce and owners of a variety of sizes of business.

"Streamlining the business registration process will cut through the red tape and leave entrepreneurs more time to do what they do best - growing their business and creating jobs," CFIB Saskatchewan and Agri-business Vice President Marilyn Braun-Pollon said. "We look forward to providing feedback on the upcoming phases of the business portal, which will go beyond registration services and provide all Saskatchewan business owners with a single point of access to most other government services."
