PLANS ARE IN PLACE FOR MONTH-END SOCIAL SERVICES CHEQUES

Released on June 23, 2011

Due to ongoing postal service disruptions, the Ministry of Social Services has plans in place to ensure that social assistance and other month-end cheques are available to clients no later than June 30.

Social Services will make a final decision in the next few days on whether cheques go in the mail (should there be an early resumption of postal service) or are made available for pickup at ministry offices across the province. This decision will be announced by news release and on the ministry website on Monday morning, June 27.

If cheques are made available for pickup, this will begin on Tuesday, June 28 at certain locations, to be announced.

In the interim, people who require the latest information about the ministry's plans for cheque pickup or distribution are asked to visit the ministry website at http://www.socialservices.gov.sk.ca/, which is updated daily or call 1-888-286-0399.
