Released on June 13, 2011
Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport announced today that Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park will officially open for the season on June 15. Rowan's Ravine, along with other parks along Last Mountain Lake, was affected by flooding early in the season and was not able to open as scheduled on May long weekend.
"I am excited that conditions have improved enough that we will be able to open Rowan's Ravine for the season," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson said. "Park staff have been working hard to put things back in order and I welcome this opportunity to personally thank them for their exceptional dedication. We are confident that our visitors will be able to enjoy their time at the park this season."
Once the park opens, the campground, campground service centres, boat launch, rental cabins, marina store, mini golf and restaurant will all be available to visitors. The beach will re-open once water levels recede. However, the marina will remain closed for the season.
