Saskatchewan retail sales numbers were up in November according to a report released by Statistics Canada today.
On a month-over-month basis, retail sales in the province were up by 1.5 per cent between October 2010 and November 2010, the third highest percentage increase among the provinces (seasonally adjusted). On a year-over-year basis, retail sales jumped by 4.6 per cent, the fourth highest increase in the nation between November 2009 and November 2010. Retail sales in Saskatchewan have now increased for the last six consecutive months on a seasonally adjusted basis.
"Consumers were loosening their wallets in November, a positive sign that Saskatchewan people are feeling confident in the economy," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "What is really encouraging is that we have seen modest increases in almost all of our key economic indicators and an expectation that 2011 will be a very good year for Saskatchewan."
