Good news for Saskatchewan dealerships in November 2010. According to Statistics Canada today, new motor vehicle sales in the province jumped by 36.4 per cent in November of 2010 when compared with November 2009 (seasonally unadjusted). This was the highest percentage increase in Canada.
Seasonally adjusted, Saskatchewan's new vehicle sales were up 2.5 per cent between October 2010 and November 2010, third best increase among the provinces. On a year-over-year basis, sales rose 15.1 per cent, ranking third in the nation over this period.
"Consumers were confident and financially able to purchase new cars and trucks in the province, which happens when an economy is on the move," Enterprise Saskatchewan Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "There are a number of factors which contribute to this rise in new vehicle purchases, our growing population, the rise in average earnings, the availability of more jobs and an economy that is predicted to be the strongest in Canada this year."
In November 2009 there were 2,838 units sold in the province (seasonally unadjusted). There were 1000 more units sold in November 2010 with the total coming in at 3,870.
