Working to Preserve and Promote Saskatchewan's Heritage in All its Forms
The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation announced today its 2010-2011 allocation of funds for communities and organizations to help preserve the province's architectural heritage and maintain its cultural treasures.
Today the Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation announced the allocation of $213,400 for 37 conservation projects, 10 research projects, four education projects and one publication project. Individual grants range from $500 for the Village of Hazlet's Self-Guided Tour, to $5,000 for research on the Humboldt Telegraph Station Site, to $20,000 for preservation work on the Melville CN Station.
"The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation's grant programs develop pride in our province and promote tourism opportunities in communities through the sensitive rehabilitation of landmark structures," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson said. "In addition, they add to the knowledge base of our province through research projects and engage youth through support for the Saskatchewan Youth Heritage Fairs. Through this support, our stories, significant heritage properties and shared values are preserved for the benefit of present and future generations."
The Saskatchewan Heritage Foundation is a Crown corporation that works closely with the Heritage Conservation Branch of the Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport. It acquires, manages and develops real and moveable property in the name of the Crown and accepts the donation of cash monies, property and other bequests.
