WALL LEAVES FOR LONDON, MEETINGS WITH BHP BILLITON AND INVESTORS

Released on February 22, 2011

Premier Brad Wall leaves today for a five-day visit to London that includes meetings with BHP's Andrew MacKenzie as well as business executives and members of the world's global investment community.

"London is one of the world's three largest financial centres and the United Kingdom is the 3rd largest investor in Saskatchewan ($25 million, 2010 projection)," Wall said.

"Saskatchewan's exports to the United Kingdom (UK) grew faster than for any other Canadian province over the past five years, and they are the largest market for our uranium. It just makes sense to take some time to nurture and expand on that relationship."

Wall will meet at Canada's High Commission in London with representatives from Shell, Rolls-Royce, Siemens and EDF, the largest nuclear operator in the UK.

There are also meetings scheduled with the British Venture Capital Association, Rio Tinto and interviews with British financial media.

Wall will also address an investment promotion lunch, hosted by the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce.

"The world is seeking food and energy security and Saskatchewan has what the world needs," Wall said. "However, international capital is needed to develop those resources, keep our economy growing and create new jobs for Saskatchewan young people.

"This trip will be a timely opportunity to remind those in London's investment community of the tremendous potential presented by Saskatchewan."
