Saskatchewan's wholesale trade in 2010 had the highest percentage increase over last year in Canada according to a report released by Statistics Canada today.
Wholesale trade was up 25.1 per cent (seasonally adjusted), the highest in Canada on a year-over-year basis. Nationally, sales were up 5.8 per cent for the year. Saskatchewan had a 5.5 per cent increase in trade between November 2010 and December 2010, also the highest percentage increase among the provinces.
"Wholesale trade picked up in the last six months of 2010, with strong demand for agricultural supplies," Enterprise Saskatchewan Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "Our wholesale trade increases were the best in Canada for the year by a wide margin, which means our economy is poised to continue significant economic growth into the future."
In 2010, wholesale trade was the second highest ever recorded on an annual basis.
