RSM’S MEGAMUNCH TURNS 65 MILLION AND 25 YEARS OLD

Released on August 12, 2011

Everyone is invited as the friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) throw a birthday party on Saturday, August 13, for Megamunch - the much beloved robotic T.Rex known to thousands of Saskatchewan school children and adults. Megamunch will be honoured for turning 65 million and 25 years old with an afternoon of activities starting at 11 a.m. on the front lawn of the RSM.

"With his ferocious roar, Megamuch has been welcoming children, students and families to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and Regina for the past twenty-five years," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson said. "He's a great ambassador for the RSM and has encouraged many to learn more about Saskatchewan's prehistoric past."

"A dinosaur-sized birthday cake has been baked and everyone is invited," Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum Executive Director Rob Hubick said. "The Friends want to celebrate Megamunch's birthday and use the opportunity to encourage people young and old to support the RSM as a wonderful museum and a treasure for the entire province."

Outdoor activities planned for the front lawn of the RSM include an outdoor entertainment stage, dinobouncers, party games, craft stations, a foam pit, midway games, scavenger hunts, a petting zoo, a fire truck, photo booths, a mascot challenge, hula-hoopers, magicians, singers and dancers.

Learn more and visit Megamunch and the RSM on-line at www.royalsaskmuseum.ca.
