Saskatchewan's goods continue to be in high demand, generating $2.3 billion for provincial businesses in June. This was an increase of 29.6 per cent over June 2010 according to the latest merchandise exports report by Statistics Canada.
The last six months showed a similar upward swing of 13.3 per cent, which totalled $13.7 billion in merchandise exports over the same period in 2010.
"World demand continues to be strong for Saskatchewan products, which translates into opportunities for our exporters and prosperity for our province," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "Saskatchewan has what the world needs. That is translating into better jobs, better roads and improved schools here at home."
The Statistics Canada report noted strong increases for Saskatchewan, especially in the agricultural, energy, automotive and industrial sectors.
