PREMIER EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SERGE LECLERC

Released on April 16, 2011

Premier Brad Wall today expressed condolences on the passing of former MLA Serge LeClerc, who died this morning after a battle with cancer.

"Serge LeClerc's life is truly a story of redemption," Wall said. "Serge overcame a very troubled past and went on to touch the lives of thousands of young people with his powerful message about the dangers of drug use.

"Our entire family got to know Serge very well and we want to pass along our deepest sympathies to his wife Janine and their family."

Wall said LeClerc was an impassioned MLA who worked tirelessly for better drug addition services.

"Serge spoke his mind," Wall said. "People didn't always want to hear what he had to say, but he said what he believed in and I respected him for that.

"That voice will be missed."
