April 10 - 16 has been declared Victims of Crime Awareness Week in Saskatchewan, to coincide with National Victims of Crime Awareness week. This week is an opportunity to raise awareness about the needs of victims of crime and tragedy, and about the variety of programs and services in place to help victims and their families in Saskatchewan. This year's theme is "Many Voices, Many Paths".
"I am grateful to the volunteer Victim Support Workers and board members who help victims of crime as they navigate the justice system," Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan said. "They help the ministry provide timely and effective services to people who are most in need of those services, at a time when they are least able to help themselves."
During Victims of Crime Awareness Week, all of the nearly 300 volunteer Victim Support Workers and 100 board members will be recognized for their years of service to the people of their communities. As in past years, Morgan will host a luncheon at the Legislative Building in honour of a number of long-term volunteers.
