SaskGaming's annual report was tabled in the Legislature today, with income before transfers at $43 million. Of that, $21.5 million was transferred to the provincial General Revenue Fund (GRF) and a dividend of $19.3 million was declared to Crown Investment Corporation (CIC).
"In 2010, SaskGaming made a significant contribution to our province's economy," Minister responsible for SaskGaming Ken Cheveldayoff said. "The money it provides to the General Revenue Fund, as well as the more than $760,000 given to worthy community groups and organizations in 2010, help shape our province's bright future."
SaskGaming provides 50 per cent of its profits to the GRF, which distributes gaming profits to the Community Initiatives Fund, First Nations Trust and Métis Development Fund. The impacts of these contributions are felt throughout the province. Since 1996, SaskGaming has contributed $383.5 million to the GRF.
"I'm proud of our performance in 2010," SaskGaming President and CEO Twyla Meredith said. "In spite of the financial and organizational challenges we faced, we had some great achievements. We welcomed more than 3.4 million guests, finalized our facility refresh project and provided quality employment to more than 1,100 people."
SaskGaming continues to lead the public sector in diversity, with 42.5 per cent of its workforce represented by Aboriginal people.
SaskGaming's mandate is to offer casino entertainment in a socially responsible manner, generating quality employment, economic benefit to the community and profit for Saskatchewan people in partnership with First Nations.
