GROWTH AND SOLID OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE HELP ISC POST STRONG PROFITS IN 2010

Released on April 4, 2011

Information Services Corporation (ISC) experienced strong growth with the addition of the Corporate Registry in 2010. This addition, along with solid operational performance throughout all product lines, helped ISC post a profit of $15.6 million, the third highest profit posted by the provincial Crown corporation in its 10-year history.

"ISC continues to produce healthy returns for the people of Saskatchewan," Minister responsible for ISC Tim McMillan said. "The Corporate Registry transferred to ISC from the Ministry of Justice and significant progress was made on the development of the Business Registration Portal, an online registry service for new businesses that will launch this spring, to name only two of the projects the corporation worked on in 2010. It's through initiatives like these that ISC is paving the way toward a strong future in Saskatchewan."

"2010 was a very busy year for ISC," ISC President and CEO Jeff Stusek said. "In addition to our many financial and operational achievements, ISC was recognized for our strong commitment to organizational excellence and customer focus. ISC became the first corporation in Saskatchewan to be recognized by the National Quality Institute (NQI) with Level 3 certification in the Progressive Excellence Program (PEP) Integrated Criteria, and was also awarded a Silver Canada Award for Excellence. I am very proud of what ISC employees have achieved this year."

Financial highlights of ISC's 2010 Annual Report include:

  • $15.6 million in net income, compared to $15.1 million in 2009;
  • $60.4 million in revenue, compared to $57.1 million in 2009;
  • $44.8 million in expenses, compared to $42 million in 2009; and
  • $14 million dividend to Crown Investments Corporation (CIC), compared to $13.6 million in 2009.

Operational highlights of the 2010 Annual Report include:

  • Supporting condominium development in the province through system changes to allow for the creation of sub-condominium corporations and the option to have titled parking units in new condominium developments;
  • The implementation of new technology and processes to track customer interactions and resolve issues more effectively. In the end, more than 140,000 phone calls, emails, counter visits and faxes were logged in 2010 (with a resolution rate of 89 per cent on the first call); and
  • The honour of being named by Mediacorp as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, a Top 20 Saskatchewan Employer and one of Canada's Top 25 Family-friendly Employers - all of them in recognition of ISC's people and healthy workplace practices.
