CROP REPORT FOR PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 19 TO 25, 2010

Released on October 28, 2010

Saskatchewan producers have 99 per cent of the 2010 crop combined, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report.

All regions in the province are reporting that 99 per cent of the crop has been harvested. The five-year provincial average (2005 to 2009) for this time of year is 96 per cent combined. Last year at this time, Saskatchewan farmers had 79 per cent of the crop in the bin with an additional 17 per cent swathed or ready to straight-combine.

Fall farm work has mostly come to a stand-still as rain was recorded in some areas of the province and a snow storm rolled through most of the province on October 26 and 27.

Farmers are busy trying to finish up fall work; harvesting, baling straw, hauling bales and grain, cleaning corrals, fixing fence, bringing cattle home from pasture and working sloughs that were too wet to seed this spring.

Note: November 4 will be the last Saskatchewan Agriculture Crop Report for the 2010 crop season.
