MCLEAN INQUEST

Released on October 20, 2010

An inquest into the death of Calvin McLean will be held October 25-29, 2010, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Agra Torchinsky Salon at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan.

McLean, age 43 years, died on October 9, 2008, after suffering a medical emergency while being arrested by the Regina Police Service on October 8, 2008.

Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999 states that the Chief Coroner may direct that an inquest be held into the death of any person.

In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died, the medical cause of death and the manner of death, the coroner's jury could make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.

Coroner Darin Chow, Q.C. of Moose Jaw will preside at the inquest.
