Premier Brad Wall has declared Friday, November 26 before the Grey Cup to be "Green Friday" in Saskatchewan. The Premier is asking everyone to show their Rider Pride by wearing green.
"We want everyone to wear green at work, school, shopping, wherever they are," Wall said. "The Riders said playing last week in Calgary was like a home game because of all the green in the crowd. So let's make the sea of green continue to wash throughout Saskatchewan and all the way to Edmonton."
Wall said although the Alouettes have been picked to win heading into the game, the Riders have proven time and time again that their resilience and determination outweigh the odds.
"There were many football experts a few weeks ago that didn't think the Riders would be winning the Western Final, let alone heading to the Grey Cup," Wall said. "But here we are with the Riders heading to the Grey Cup for the third time in four years. This hasn't happened since the 60's."
Wall said this year's performance is a testament to the great leadership of Coach Ken Miller and to the dedication of the team.
Premier Wall added that this year's 100th anniversary makes going to the Grey Cup even more significant.
"I don't think there's a more perfect way to celebrate the Saskatchewan Roughrider centennial than by bringing home the Grey Cup to the country's greatest fans," Wall said.
