GOPHER CONTROL REBATE PROGRAM - DEADLINE APPROACHING

Released on November 12, 2010

Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud is reminding producers the deadline to submit applications for the 2010 Gopher Control Rebate Program is November 30, 2010.

Under the program, producers, Rural Municipalities (RMs) and First Nations bands can receive a 50 per cent rebate on eligible gopher control products purchased and used between Oct. 1, 2009 and Oct. 1, 2010.

"Gophers continue to be a serious problem for farmers and ranchers in Saskatchewan," Bjornerud said. "This program provides support to help producers manage the gopher population."

To date, the Gopher Control Rebate Program has received more than 650 applications for the 2010 program, totalling more than $275,000 in rebates.
