SOCIAL WORK WEEK MARCH 21-27

Released on March 22, 2010

Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer has proclaimed March 21-27 as Social Work Week in recognition of the hard work and commitment of social workers across Saskatchewan.

"We are pleased to join with provinces across Canada in proclaiming this special week to help honour and celebrate the many contributions of social workers to society," Harpauer said. "Join with us during the week of March 21-27 as we acknowledge the efforts and dedication of social workers in Saskatchewan."

"This is the time we set aside to celebrate social work, honour our colleagues and bring important issues to the attention of the wider public," Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) President Jim Walls said. "The theme for the 2010 week of recognition is ‘Social Workers Speaking Up: Poverty Costs'."
