Saskatchewan's unmatched diversity of primary energy sources among Canadian jurisdictions is the focus of discussion between the province's representatives and attendees at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary this week.
Held June 8-10, the show features more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and 60,000 registered attendees from countries across the world and is one of the industry's premier oil and gas exhibition and conferences. It is a showcase for new technologies and innovations, and generates important business leads for the international energy sector, including opportunities in Saskatchewan.
"Saskatchewan's energy resources put us on the map across North America and throughout the world," Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd said. "We are seen as a secure and reliable supplier of various forms of energy, including oil and gas. The Global Petroleum Show draws industry players from around the globe - it is a perfect place for us to do business."
"There are opportunities for investment in Saskatchewan's energy sector which simply don't exist anywhere else to the same degree," Enterprise Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said. "We are here to talk with not only those energy companies who are already just getting established in our province, but also with those who have yet to do so. Our investment climate and business advantages combined with our existing resources create a very attractive package."
Members of the joint team from Enterprise Saskatchewan and the Ministry of Energy and Resources will be staffing the province's booth on the floor of the show, and will participate in a number of activities on the agenda. These include a panel discussion on Saskatchewan's business advantages and hosting a Saskatchewan reception for business and government leaders.
