Health Minister Don McMorris announced the appointment of Nipawin Health Accreditation Consultant Rennie Harper, retired Carrot River Health Administrator Clarence Hendrickson and Cumberland House Cree Nation Councillor Rose Morin to the Kelsey Trail Regional Health Authority Board. Harper has been designated Vice-Chairperson, and acting Chairperson Wilfred Veller has been designated Chairperson.
"These appointments will strengthen Kelsey Trail Health Region's ability to find innovative solutions to the challenges of maintaining access to quality health services," McMorris said. "I encourage the board members of Kelsey Trail Health Region to work together to find solutions on a regional level. By working together, we can see a health system that is more efficient and patient-centred."
Harper and Hendrickson both have experience in health administration, in addition to their community service work. Morin has secretarial experience, in addition to her strong connections to Aboriginal people and organizations. Their appointments are in effect until January 2012.
"Finding ways to help area residents maintain the best possible health is extremely important to Kelsey Trail Health Region," Veller said. "I look forward to working with the new board members, who bring a wealth of insight, knowledge, skills and strong ties to their communities. With their help we will work hard to promote good health and provide reliable health services."
The vacancies on the board resulted from resignations by Jim Taylor, Keith Thompson and Tina Thomas.
Kelsey Trail Health Region serves northeast Saskatchewan, from Melfort to the Manitoba border and from Kelvington north to Cumberland House.
