The Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs has presented their third report to Provincial Secretary June Draude. The report focuses on education and early childhood.
"Education is the foundation upon which we build a successful future for our Francophone communities," Draude said. "I want to thank the committee once again for their diligent work to help the government identify ways to increasingly meet the needs of the Francophone community, to the benefit of everyone in Saskatchewan."
Seven recommendations are made based on consultations with the Ministry of Education, representatives from the Saskatchewan Francophone School Board Conseil des écoles fransaskoises, and provincial parent organizations with an interest in francophone and French immersion programs in Saskatchewan.
"The recommendations put forward by the advisory committee build on the progress and direction we have taken over the last few years," Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. "I thank the committee for their insight, and look forward to reviewing their recommendations."
The committee was appointed in January 2009 to advise the Provincial Secretary through the review and analysis of French-language programs and policies and to guide the implementation of Saskatchewan's French-language Services Policy.
