OWNER OF SASKATOON PAINTING COMPANY PLEADS GUILTY TO LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATIONS

Kyle Remenda, owner of Kyle Remenda Painting of Saskatoon, has pleaded guilty to two separate offences under Saskatchewan's Labour Standards Act and been fined a total of $720.

Mr. Remenda pleaded guilty to failing to pay final wages in full and in a timely fashion under Section 48 (2) and to issuing a cheque for payment of wages that was not honoured under Section 49 (2).

Legal proceedings were launched against the employer after he failed to co-operate with the Labour Standards Branch.

The Labour Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and regulations as well as other labour legislation. Whenever necessary, violations will be prosecuted.

In the past three months, five employers have been convicted for violating different provisions of the legislation. Five additional prosecutions against employers are currently pending.
